From Tab Chaos to One Dashboard — A Custom Shipping System for a Specialty Food Brand

The Challenge

Lilac & Crème is a New Jersey-based kosher cheesecake and dessert company with a robust e-commerce presence. Given the perishable nature of their products, shipping logistics are mission-critical — the wrong carrier, a missed label, or a delayed notification can directly impact the customer experience. The same solution was deployed for The Kugel Shop.

Their shipping workflow was fragmented across multiple tabs and systems with no unified view. Staff had to:

• Manually coordinate across different carrier tools
• Generate labels without a streamlined flow
• Handle packing slips that didn't reflect their brand
• Manage their own delivery drivers with no integrated system
• Notify customers manually about delivery updates

This caused chronic errors, wasted time, and occasionally resulted in duplicate or missed shipments.

The Solution

We built a custom Shopify app — a full shipping management dashboard that serves as the team's single source of truth for every order going out the door. Features include:

• Unified order dashboard filterable by delivery date or delivery provider
• Multi-carrier label generation supporting:
  • ShipStation (all major carriers — UPS, FedEx, USPS)
  • Mailpak (local carrier)
  • Lion Wheel (local carrier)
  • In-house pickup — custom branded label for store pickups
  • Own delivery drivers — custom workflow for Lilac's internal delivery fleet
• Formatted, branded packing slips — designed to feel premium, matching the luxury feel of their product
• Customer delivery notifications — automated updates regardless of which carrier or driver is handling the order
• Full workflow customization so the team can adapt to daily operational needs

Results

• Eliminated the multi-tab chaos — one app handles everything
• Dramatic reduction in shipping errors and missed/duplicate labels
• Packing slips now reflect the brand quality customers expect
• Internal delivery drivers fully integrated into the same workflow as external carriers
